Medistry is preparing for a significant release of .med domains, set for Tuesday, September 30 at 14:00 UTC.
According to Ray Fassett of Medistry, the registry is finishing its pre-registration phase, where over 40,000 free pre-registrations were accepted this summer. Registrars who participated received unique tokens tied to each pre-registration, ensuring only they could complete the registration. With the deadline for these nearing, Medistry will soon lift the token restrictions, opening thousands of premium .med names for general availability.
This release will make highly valuable domains accessible to all .med registrars, not just those holding pre-registration tokens. Examples include Cardiology.med, Oncology.med, Sports.med, Tech.med, Eyecare.med, Radiology.med, and many more.
Fassett noted that registrars have played a crucial role in reaching the target audience and supporting the rollout of .med. Enthusiasm remains high among partners for the upcoming release, which is expected to drive strong adoption across the medical and health industries.
