Tesla Wins Domain Dispute Against Russian Crypto Scammer

Tesla has won a UDRP case at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), recovering 52 domain namesused to impersonate the company and Elon Musk in cryptocurrency scams.

The respondent, Ekaterina Tkachenko, a Russian resident, registered domains like:

  • bitcoin-tesla2024.com

  • elon-tesla2x.com

  • tesla-btc.com

  • teslapresent.com

  • tsla2x.com
    (full list includes 52 domains - https://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/decisions/pdf/2025/d2025-1306.pdf)

These domains used Tesla’s brand alongside crypto-related terms like “bitcoin,” “2x,” and “bonus” to mislead users into phishing schemes—often promising to double users crypto payments.

Tesla proved that at least one of the domains displayed Musk’s photo and Tesla’s logo, urging people to send cryptocurrency.

The WIPO panelist said the volume and nature of the registrations showed clear bad faith, and ordered the transfer of all domains to Tesla. Many of the domains had already been flagged by browsers and antivirus software for phishing before the case was filed.
