Nigeria’s domain registry, NiRA, has now redacted all personal data in .ng Whois records, replacing registrant details with “Redacted for Privacy.”
The change aligns with Nigeria’s Data Protection Act and is supported by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. A formal process is in place for lawful access requests, including those from law enforcement, via registrars.
While Whois privacy is now common for many domains, some country code domains like .us still prohibit it.
