Pay.com.au Acquires Domain After Legal Dispute with Seller

Pay.com.au has secured the domain PayRewards.com after taking legal action against the original owner, Dean Adams, who attempted to back out of a sale agreement.

The dispute began when Adams agreed to sell the domain for $38,000 and initiated a transaction via Escrow.com. Pay.com.au funded the deal, but Adams later tried to renegotiate after discovering the buyer’s identity. He demanded $380,000 and threatened weekly price increases and a potential sale to another party.

Following this, Pay.com.au filed a lawsuit. A judge granted a temporary restraining order on April 22, preventing any transfer or deletion of the domain.

The legal pressure appears to have been effective—Whois records now show the domain has been transferred to Pay.com.au, ending the dispute.
