GoDaddy has officially launched DomainNames.com, a new digital marketplace dedicated to what it calls “ultra-premium” domain names — and it lives up to the name.
Unlike general marketplaces, DomainNames.com focuses exclusively on high-value digital assets such as single-word .com, single-word .ai, and short numeric domains — the kinds of names typically valued in the six-figure and aboverange.
Curated Premium Listings
At launch, the site features just over 100 domains, including standout names like Harmony.com, Marketplace.com, Natural.com, Assign.com, and Compel.com.
Each listing is presented with a custom logo and individual landing page, giving buyers a tailored experience befitting the caliber of domains on offer.
Seller Access by Invitation
DomainNames.com is not an open marketplace. Sellers must apply for inclusion, and only a select number of names meeting GoDaddy’s quality and valuation criteria are accepted.
Listings require an exclusive agreement, though GoDaddy clarified that the duration of exclusivity is negotiable.
Commission rates are in line with Afternic’s structure but may vary based on the domain.
Beyond Passive Sales
GoDaddy plans to actively market the listed domains through digital campaigns and direct outreach to potential buyers — a move that differentiates DomainNames.com from typical domain listing platforms.
A Domain With Its Own Story
Interestingly, the domain DomainNames.com itself has a noteworthy history.
It was purchased by domain investor Frank Schilling for $370,000 at NamesCon 2019. Schilling later sold his Uniregistry business and portfolio — including DomainNames.com — to GoDaddy, which has now turned it into a flagship platform for high-end digital real estate.
