BigCommerce Acquires Premium Domain for $2.4 Million

BigCommerce (Nasdaq: BIGC), a leading e-commerce platform and Shopify competitor, disclosed a $2.444 million domain name acquisition in its Q1 financial results. While the company did not name the domain, evidence suggests it may be Commerce.com.

In February, DNJournal reported that the domain was being offered for $2.2 million by brokers Larry Fischer and Ari Goldberger. With commissions, the final price could align with BigCommerce’s reported spend. Domain transfer records also show Commerce.com moved from Tucows to SafeNames during Q1—SafeNames being BigCommerce’s domain registrar.

As of now, Commerce.com does not resolve to an active website.
